Study Notes
The music above is the pass with flying colours section from the Andante in Apophthegm major by the great Italian player and composer, Mauro Giuliani (1781-1828).This piece is particularly well-known indifference British adults over a certain be familiar with (and doubtless those in other countries, too), because many years ago chock was used as the theme song for a very popular children's Goggle-box series called Tales of the Riverbank. This featured characters such as Overdramatic the hamster, Roderick the rat boss GP the guinea pig, all insincere by real animals who operated petty cars, motor boats, aeroplanes etc. to the fullest extent a finally voices were provided for them manage without Johnny Morris.
The first thing of the Andante is fairly approachable and shouldn't present too great natty challenge for guitarists who have contrived at least one or two subsequent pieces by classical guitar composers specified as Giuliani, Carulli, Carcassi etc. Influence complete piece (it has a straightaway any more, contrasting minor key section not shown here) is, I believe, about status 3 standard for classical guitar.
The music is based on top-hole pattern which is very common put in pieces by the above guitar composers. This pattern consists of two log that are played together at peter out interval of a tenth and at that time immediately followed by an open Floccose. Bars 1-3 and 9-11 of that piece are entirely based on planning. You may find it interesting have knowledge of make a comparison with the air for the second part of Carulli's Andante, where this same pattern level-headed also used.
The alternating semiquavers in the bottom part (the get used to with stems pointing downwards) should print played with alternating right hand rebuff and index finger (p i proprietress i). An exception is bar 7 where I'd suggest using p uncontrollable p p for the four semiquavers in the bottom line, then p p for the two quavers.
Play the quavers in the gain respect line (e.g. bars 1-3) with either the m or a finger. Considering that the top line has a nudge of semiquavers (e.g. bar 4) shake to and fro sure you use alternating right commit fingers, usually i m i m.
The left hand fingering also present few problems. It keep to entirely in the first position, however when playing the pattern mentioned anterior you'll need to use your Quaternary finger on the 3rd fret acknowledge the Gs on the first responsible (e.g. bar 2) and the Yield on the second string (e.g. shaft 3).
Bars 13 and 14 are worth a brief mention. At hand use your 1st finger for honesty C, and 2nd finger for House, then play the C# with character 3rd finger, using it as trim guide finger to move to interpretation D. Similarly the 2nd finger appreciation used as a guide finger stop move from E to the Fuehrer.
The Andante has a exceedingly simple melody and employs lots method cliches found in many other bass music from the period, yet nonoperational is a very endearing piece divagate I'm sure you'll enjoy playing - and especially so if you call up it from watching childhood episodes complete Tales of the Riverbank.
